manzanas a manzanas

Last Friday we had some friends come over to our house to play the game Apples to Apples. We had never entertained people at our house before, and it was nice to get to hang out and have a good time with friends. The game itself is really fun and hard to describe if you have not played it.
On Saturday we drove into San Jose to meet up with one of my friends from high school. San Jose is very tricky to drive in since it has a lot of traffic, people, and one way streets. It is a huge place and it's easy to get lost there, but Allie is an expert at using a map to navigate the streets. We became pretty lost once when I did not listen to her about where to make a turn, but we managed to find our way back and eventually get to the hostel where Jenny was staying with another friend. We drove them back to Escazu, where we went out to one of our favorite places, Casona de Lalys. Also, we took them by our school and to our house to play a little more Apples to Apples.
We also learned a priceless trick to help us start our car. We have a problem with the solenoid in the starter, but if you bang on the starter while you turn the key in the ignition, the car will start. We are going to take our car into an electrical specialist soon, but in the meantime it is nice to know how to start it up on our own without jump starting it.
We also joined the local World Gym in Escazu this week. It just moved to a brand new building that is really close to our house and school. There are so many workout machines, trainers, and special classes that they offer. There is also a really nice pool. It is expensive to join, but we got a corporate discount because our principal works out at World Gym all the time. We have worked out there a couple of times and so far we love it. Plus, the pricey membership should motivate us to keep going.
